Bhutan Travel Visa:
All visitors Except for Indian nationality require visa to travel to Bhutan. The Visa must be approved prior to your travel.
Tourist can apply Bhutan visa by themselves or through licensed Bhutanese Tour Operator. The visa will be issued by Department of Immigration.
Bhutan visa fee: USD 40 per person and its Non- refundable.
If we apply Bhutan visa on your behalf, please provide us:
- A clear digital copy of your passport Bio page with a validity of 6 months from the date of departure from Bhutan.
- A recent passport size photo with white background.
Once the visa application gets cleared and the E-visa approved, we will email you a copy and your actual Bhutan visa will be stamped on your passport upon arrival in Bhutan.
Department of Tourism is responsible for all regulations and monitoring of all travel agents in Bhutan. Only upon receiving Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) and visa fee the VISA is approved.
Bhutan Travel Permit:
Tourist from India will need a travel permit to visit Bhutan. Indian tourist can apply travel permit by themselves or through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. Tourist are required to hold Indian passport or Indian Voter ID card. The travel permit will be issued by Department of Immigration.
Indian tourist under the age of 18 may either enter with birth certificate or passport and must be accompanied by legal guardian.
For Bhutan travel permit you have to provide us:
- A digital copy of your valid passport with a validity of 6 months from the date of departure from Bhutan OR an Indian Voter ID Card, or birth certificate for people under 18 years of age.
- A recent passport size photo with white background.
Sustainable Development Fee:
The Royal Government of Bhutan have set a Tourism levy known as Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 200 per night for all tourist except Indian tourist.
A discount of 50 % have been provided by the Royal Government on SDF of USD 200 from 1st September 2023 till 31st August 2027. The SDF discount is USD 100 per person per night.
For tourist from India the SDF is Rs 1200 per person per night.
Children aged from 6 to 12 at the time of travel receives a 50% concessionary discount on their SDF. Children aged 5 or younger are exempt from paying SDF. And children above the age of 12 pays the full SDF.
Tourist of all nationalities are Exempt from paying the SDF for visits up to 24 hrs. in the border town of Phuntsholing, Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar as long as they do not proceed beyond the authorized zone.
Note:
- It may take up to 5 working days to process a visa or a travel permit.
- Tourist with Visa or Travel permit shall be allowed to visit any areas, except the areas that fall within restricted area.
- Tourist shall be allowed to visit restricted area identified as trekking routes by Department of Tourism, Bhutan if accompanied by certified trekking guide.
- Only Department of Tourism registered tour operator can organize trekking tours for tourist.
